Jeremy Pelt Quintet (USA) 02.11 at iDeeJazz in Viimsi Artium

American trumpeter Jeremy Pelt is one of the most outstanding names in contemporary jazz trumpet – a confident and bold musician whose playing has been strongly influenced by legends such as Lee Morgan and Freddie Hubbard. JazzTimes has called him “a technical marvel” who delivers intricate solos with ease, interprets ballads with taste, and whose performance never lacks flair or sensitivity. DownBeat magazine has repeatedly recognized him as Trumpeter of the Year.

Pelt’s latest project, Woven, is a captivating and innovative album that intertwines the traditional elements of 21st-century jazz with the boundless possibilities of electronic sound. Comprising mostly original compositions, the collection highlights Pelt’s mastery both as an instrumentalist and as a composer, exploring new dimensions in jazz. Each track is meticulously crafted, striking a perfect balance between innovation and emotional depth. At times, Pelt’s trumpet resonates in the midst of neo-bop and energetic rhythms; at others, it embraces the warmth of intimate ballads, seamlessly blending with electronic textures. Together with his ensemble, Pelt creates a fluid dialogue between acoustic and electronic sounds, bringing listeners a vivid and dynamic breath of contemporary jazz.
